Purdue University Students Visiting SHUTCM

From March 11to 15, 2024, students from the Purdue College of Pharmacy participated in a TCM program at our university. The program offers a comprehensive TCM experience by combining lectures, site visits and clinical observation, covering TCM theories, common acupuncture points, Tuina, and clinical applications of Chinese medicines.

Through the visit to TCM Museum, students got an insight into the history and development of Chinese medicine. At the Shuguang Hospital Pharmacy, students gained firsthand experience of witnessing TCM granules, decoction-ready medicines, and the entire process of dispensing Chinese remedies. Additionally, the visit to Shanghai Kaibao Pharmaceutical Company provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the lifecycle of medicine, encompassing research, development, production and distribution processes.

Students were attracted by lectures on introduction to essential TCM theories, Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture.

Through clinical observations in the hospital, they gained hands-on experience with Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) therapies.

Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is open to students from diverse countries for an exploration journey to traditional Chinese medicine.
