Academy of Integrative Medicine of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established on June 19, 2019. Guided by the national science & technology, health-related development program as well as essential social requirements, we adhere to the ideology of internationalization, modernization, inheritance and innovation. We are committed to the the construction of an innovative demonstration base for integrated traditional & Western medicine disciplines, of a high-standard talent cultivation base, of a benchmark for academic achievements with international influence in integrated Traditional and Western medicine, and of a national research base for the prevention and treatment of critical intractable diseases in integrated Traditional and Western medicine. The institute consists of five research centers: Tumor Research Center, Cardiovascular Disease Research Center, Gut Microbiota and Metabolic Research Center, Emotional Disease Research Center and Neuroscience Research Center. At present, the institute has 16 in-service scientific research and teaching staff, 14 part-time professors, 3 in-station postdoctoral fellows and 39 students with Master’s degree and Ph.D. candidates.
The institute has talent programs with diverse standards and categories, such as Shanghai Leading Talents (Overseas), Shanghai Outstanding Academic Leader, Shanghai Talent Recruitment Program, Shanghai Science and Technology Star Program, Shanghai Sailing Program, and Xinglin Scholars of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The research teams have led 11 research projects supported by The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 4 research projects sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Science and Technology, and 1 research project supported by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. The institute has published over 30 academic treatises in European Heart Journal, Journal of Hepatology, Circulation Research, Redox Biology, ISME Journal and other journals, and has applied for and gained 10 national invention patents as well as compiled 1 academic monograph.
