Clinical experts of the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine discuss offering TCM MOOCs during a seminar on Nov 11.
The Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) held a seminar on offering MOOCs (massive open online courses) on Nov 11 in response to a rising need for online international TCM education due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The MOOC will revolve around acupuncture, massage, and internal TCM clinical medical records. During the seminar, 10 clinical experts with a lot of experience in international education discussed the details of opening MOOCs, including the classification of related diseases and the writing format of MOOC scripts.
According to the university, the online courses are expected to be offered in both Chinese and French, targeting medical students at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, the University of Lyon in France, and the University of Ottawa in Canada.
The four universities have carried out various TCM training and education activities in Shanghai, France, and Canada since they signed a cooperation and exchange agreement in 2016. As the pandemic has put a damper on offline activities, online courses have become important to carrying on their cooperation in TCM education.
