TCM is the treasure of ancient Chinese science and one of the keys to the treasury of Chinese civilization. The research on the inheritance and development of TCM culture plays a crucial role in the systematic construction of creative transformation and innovative development. Originating from the academic accumulation of traditional Chinese medical culture, the Institute of Science, Technology and Humanities of SHUTCM was established in 2016. We are committed to preserving and developing Chinese culture, based on the solid foundation of science,technology and humanities of the university.
Its affiliated institutes and departments are as follows: the Institute of TCM Literature, the Centre for Research and Spread of Chinese Medical Culture, the Centre for Globalization of TCM(Shanghai Leading Think Tank), the Chinese Medicine and Culture Journal, the Research Center for Formula and Pattern Information of TCM, the Teaching and Research Section of Medical History, the Teaching and Research Section of Ancient Medical Literature, the Teaching and Research Section of Various Theories of TCM, and other academic institutions. The institute is renowned for so many outstanding members with honorary titles such as “Master of TCM”,“National Famous TCM Practitioners”,“National Famous Teachers of Colleges and Universities”,“National Famous Teachers of Colleges and Universities of TCM”,“Famous Teachers of Colleges and Universities at Shanghai”,“Famous TCM Practitioners at Shanghai”and “Member of the Shanghai Research Institute of Culture and History”.
Adhering to cultivating behavior with virtue and nurturing spirit with culture, based on the harmony and unity of natural science and humanities of TCM, catering to the field of humanities and social sciences, based on the construction of the Literature of TCM History and the Science and Technology (medicine) discipline, focusing on personnel training, and driven by organized scientific research, we continuously strengthen cultural awareness and self-confidence, stimulates cultural vitality, enhances domestic and international influence.
