A delegation led by Hu Hongyi, vice-president of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM), visited the European countries of Malta and Germany from Nov 5 to 10.

At the University of Malta, the delegation received warm welcomes from Maltese Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and Health Minister Chris Fearne.

They had in-depth exchanges on cooperation between the two nations' schools and on their diversified standards in running schools, and spoke highly of jointly cultivating postgraduates in TCM and cultural expertise.

The master's program, which has been running for three years, gained much appreciation among Maltese and European students. The first group of 10 graduates has also managed the shift from campus to job market.

The delegation also visited the University of Hamburg, the largest institution for research and education in northern Germany.

The two schools agreed to initiate a joint master's program for high-end TCM doctors, which, according to the memorandum of understanding, will start admissions across the region in March 2018. It is the first high-grade TCM program targeting Western doctors.
