Our responsibilities

The Center was founded in 2013. Our major responsibilities are as follows:

lTo establish and revise international, national, professional and local standards on traditional Chinese medicine.

lTo conduct strategic research on standardization policies and develop standardization projects

lTo train personnel involved in TCM standardization

lDeal with routine administration affairs of the secretariats of ISO/TC249 and Shanghai Municipal Technical Committee of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Our achievements

By the end of 2014, we’ve completed and published 2 international standards on TCM and 2 local standards on TCM in Shanghai, and involved in drafting 5 national standards on TCM. In addition, we’ve assisted the SHUTCM Shuguang Hospital in completing the ISO project: Assessment of Non-Economic Benefits of Standards. We’ve also helped Shuguang Hospital and Longhua Hospital with personnel training and construction of TCM Standardization Pilot Program, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Our ongoing activities

lRegulating and establishing more than 30 TCM-related standards.

lConducting research projects of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai Science & Technology Commission, Shanghai Health & Family Planning Commission and Shanghai TCM Development Office.

lWorking in collaborations with international organizations including the WHO, the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Our staff

Currently, the Center has one director and two staff members. Regarding educational background, 1 has doctorate degree of Chinese medicine, 1 has Master degree of Chinese medicine and 1 has Master degree of English language. All three of them have received training courses on national and international standardization.
