Recently, the 238th Oriental Science & Technology Forum was held in Shanghai Huxing Science & Technology Library. This Forum was hosted by the SHUTCM and sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Government, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. The theme of this Forumis ‘New Translational Medicine Perspective: Chinese Medicine for Fatty Liver’. This forum attracted more than 30 experts from SHUTCM, Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, the University of Ottawa, Canada, the Universityof Texas, USA and University at Buffalo, the State University of New York. Prof. Xu Jianguang, the President of SHUTCM attended the Forum and delivered the opening remarks.
Eight scientists in systems biology, molecular biology, life science and Chinese medicine delivered wonderful presentations from basic medical sciences and clinical studies regarding the fatty liver. Prof. Ji Guang, the vice president of SHUTCM and executive chairman of the Forum delivered a keynote speech titled Practice of Translational Medicine in TCM Treatment for Fatty Liver’. His speech was followed by in-depth discussions with other scientists who were present at the Forum.
Due to the epidemiology and limited diagnosis and treatment for fattyliver, all experts at the Forum agreed that it’s inevitable to facilitate translational medical practice of Chinese medicine in this regard.
